Get more out of your cleansing balm

The Multi-Use Cleansing Balm is designed for gentle cleansing, without foam and without leaving your skin feeling tight. You can use it as a cleanser, make-up remover, and, whenever you need it, as a quick nourishing mask.

A balm cleanser works differently than a foaming cleanser. You don't start with water, but with oil. This is because make-up, sunscreen, sebum, and dirt largely adhere to the oily layer on your skin.

By first gently massaging the balm onto dry skin, you softly loosen those oily residues. Only then do you add lukewarm water. The balm then turns milky and can be rinsed off or wiped away with a warm, damp face cloth.

As a daily cleanser

Use the cleansing balm on dry skin, with dry or nearly dry hands.

Take about two peas' worth of product. Use a little more if you are wearing a lot of make-up or sunscreen.

Massage gently over your face, eyelids, lips, and neck. Do not scrub. Let the balm do the work.

Afterwards, add lukewarm water. The balm will turn into a milky emulsion. Rinse with lukewarm water or wipe away with a warm, damp face cloth.

Pat your skin dry. Do not rub.

Your skin should feel clean, soft, and comfortable afterwards. Not tight.

How much should you use?

For normal use, about two peas' worth is enough.

If you have a lot of make-up or sunscreen on, you can use a little more so you have enough product to gently loosen everything.

It is better to start with a little less. You will naturally notice if you need more.

As a make-up remover

The balm is also suitable for gently loosening make-up, sunscreen, and the remnants of the day.

For eye make-up, close your eyes and massage gently over your eyelids and lashes. Then add water so the balm turns milky. Rinse well or wipe away with a warm, damp face cloth.

Are you wearing a lot of make-up, waterproof make-up, or multiple layers of sunscreen? Then you can use the double cleansing method: two short cleanses in a row instead of one heavy cleanse.

The first cleanse loosens make-up, sunscreen, sebum, and dirt. The second cleanse removes the last remnants more gently.

With the Facial Cloth

The Balmsense Facial Cloth is the face cloth you can use for this. Make it warm and damp, wring it out slightly, and gently wipe off the milky emulsion. Do not scrub. Let the warmth and moisture do the work.

Around the eyes

Always work gently. The skin around the eyes is thin. You don't need to pull or scrub; gently massaging it in and emulsifying well is enough.

As a quick mask

You can also use the cleansing balm as a quick nourishing mask.

Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin. Leave it on for 15 minutes.

Afterwards, massage with wet fingers until the balm turns milky. Rinse off or wipe away with a warm, damp face cloth.

This is especially pleasant when your skin feels dull, dry, or tight, or when you want to turn your cleansing into a more relaxing moment.

Mask tip

Don't apply a thick layer. A thin layer is enough. This is a concentrated balm, not a watery cream.

How often should you use it?

In the evening

The evening is usually the most important time to cleanse. That is when you remove make-up, sunscreen, sebum, and the day's residue.

In the morning

In the morning, heavy cleansing is usually unnecessary. Lukewarm water is often enough. Use the balm only if your skin feels like it needs it.

For dry or sensitive skin

Cleanse gently and briefly. Use lukewarm water and as little friction as possible.

For skin that gets oily quickly

Cleanse thoroughly, but don't scrub your skin raw. A tight feeling is not the goal.

Why doesn't it foam?

Foam is not necessary for effective cleansing.

Many foaming cleansers don't just clean the skin, but also strip away many of the skin's own natural oils. This makes your skin feel freshly clean at first, but often tight or dry afterwards.

This balm cleans differently. Oily substances dissolve oily substances. Make-up, sunscreen, sebum, and dirt are gently loosened. With water, the balm turns into a milky emulsion that you can rinse off.

clean doesn't have to mean tight

If it doesn't feel right immediately

The balm leaves a greasy residue

Are you adding enough water? The balm must turn milky. That is the sign that it is emulsifying correctly.

Also, don't use too much product. A concentrated balm requires only a small amount.

Your skin still feels tight

Check the water temperature and the amount of friction used. Water that is too hot and drying your skin off too roughly can still strip or irritate the skin.

Make-up is not completely gone

Use a bit more balm or cleanse twice briefly. Especially with a lot of sunscreen or waterproof make-up, the double cleansing method works more gently than one long, vigorous cleanse.

The most common mistake

Adding water too quickly. First, gently massage the balm over dry skin. Only then should you add the water.

Afterwards

After cleansing, your skin needs protection again.

Follow up by applying a small amount of Full Care Face Balm, especially if your skin feels dry, tight, or sensitive.

Cleanse mildly. Nourish purposefully. That is all you need.

Cleansing is not stripping your skin. It is removing what needs to be removed, without disturbing what your skin needs.
