why a balm?
Your skin naturally produces sebum: a mixture of lipids that forms part of its protective barrier. These lipids help keep the skin supple and reduce moisture loss.
Cleansing, hot water, weather and age can all affect this protective layer. Balmsense therefore takes a simple approach: cleanse gently, then replenish lipids where your skin needs them.
A balm also feels different from a water-rich cream. It takes a little longer to settle into the skin, so start with less than you think you need.

Balmsense is designed as a short routine: one balm to cleanse and one balm to nourish and protect.
Multi-Use Cleansing Balm
A gentle balm cleanser for face, eyes and lips. Massage it over dry skin to loosen make-up, sunscreen, sebum and everyday residue.
Add lukewarm water and the balm becomes a milky emulsion that can be rinsed away or removed with a warm, damp face cloth.
It does not need to foam. Your skin should feel clean and comfortable afterwards, not tight.

Full Care Face Balm
A concentrated face balm made with carefully selected botanical oils, waxes and functional ingredients.
It supports the skin barrier and helps limit moisture loss while keeping the routine deliberately simple.
Apply a very thin layer and give the balm about 10–15 minutes to settle. If your skin still feels greasy, use less next time.
Its scent is floral, herbal and lightly resinous.

a simple daily routine
The formulas are concentrated. Start with less; you can always add a little more.
1. cleanse
- Apply Cleansing Balm to dry skin.
- Massage gently over face, eyes, lips and neck.
- Add lukewarm water until the balm becomes milky.
- Rinse or remove with a warm, damp face cloth.
- Pat the skin dry rather than rubbing.
2. nourish & protect
- Apply a thin layer of Full Care Face Balm.
- Massage gently over the skin.
- Allow around 10–15 minutes for it to settle.
- If it still feels greasy, use less next time.

Balmsense does not use added water to create volume. The formulas are concentrated, so dosage matters.
Start with a small amount of Face Balm and adjust it to your skin, the season and the time of day.
Dry skin or cold winter weather may call for a little more. Combination skin or skin that becomes shiny easily usually needs less.

developed from practice, not from a trend
Balmsense was founded by Wanda Zijlstra, skin therapist and cosmetic chemist.
The products grew out of years of working directly with clients, observing the skin and measuring moisture and oil levels, followed by formal study in cosmetic formulation.
One observation kept returning: skin often improved when cleansing became gentler and lost lipids were replenished instead of repeatedly being removed.
That became the basis of Balmsense: practical skincare, clearly explained and developed from skin logic rather than beauty trends.
